Initial Consultation and Evaluation
Before starting treatment, a comprehensive initial consultation and evaluation are usually conducted. During this consultation, the couple's medical history is thoroughly reviewed, existing test results are evaluated, and a physical examination is performed. If possible, this initial consultation can also be conducted remotely via online consultation. This allows the couple's first visit to Ankara to be postponed until the treatment plan is finalized and medication can begin.
During the Treatment Process
The most intensive part of IVF treatment involves ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval. This process typically lasts about 10-14 days, during which the patient requires regular monitoring with ultrasounds and blood tests. Some of these monitoring appointments can be performed in Izmir by a physician we collaborate with or one trusted by the patient, under the guidance of our Ankara IVF Center. However, for critical stages such as egg retrieval and embryo transfer, it is mandatory for our patient to be in Ankara. During this period, a stay of generally 5-7 days in Ankara may be required.
- Ovarian Stimulation Monitoring: While the first few monitoring appointments can be done in Izmir, the final appointments and the last evaluation before egg retrieval require being in Ankara.
- Egg Retrieval (OPU): It is essential for the patient to be in Ankara for this procedure. The procedure is usually brief, and discharge occurs on the same day.
- Embryo Transfer: The patient must also be in Ankara for the embryo transfer, which is performed 3 or 5 days after egg retrieval.
If the obtained embryos are to be frozen, meaning embryo or egg freezing will be performed, the patient can return to Izmir after the egg retrieval and come back to Ankara for embryo transfer in a later cycle. This approach offers flexibility, especially for our patients traveling from distant locations.
Preparation with Local Tests

Which Tests Can Be Done in Izmir?

Transportation Options
- High-Speed Train (YHT): Once the ongoing YHT line from Izmir to Ankara is completed, this will be the fastest and most comfortable transportation option. Currently, YHT can be used with transfers, or direct bus/plane options can be chosen.
- Flight: There are regular flights between Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) and Ankara Esenboğa Airport (ESB). The flight duration is approximately 1 hour. Havaş buses, taxis, or private transfer services can be used for transportation from the airport to the city center and our clinic.
- Bus: There are bus companies with frequent services between Izmir and Ankara. The journey duration is approximately 8-9 hours. Bus terminals are generally close to the city center, and our clinic can be easily reached from there.
- Private Car: If you prefer to travel by your own car, the distance between Izmir and Ankara is approximately 560 km, and the journey duration can take 6-7 hours depending on traffic conditions.
