ICSI (Microinjection)
An advanced IVF technique in which a single sperm is injected directly into the egg; the highest success in male-factor infertility.
Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is an advanced IVF technique in which a single sperm is injected directly into the egg using a micropipette. Fertilization is not left to chance; the embryologist selects the healthiest-looking sperm and performs fertilization personally.
ICSI provides a clear advantage over standard IVF in cases of low sperm count, poor motility or abnormal morphology; at our center we achieve fertilization rates above 70%.
Who is it recommended for?
- Severe male-factor infertility (count, motility, morphology)
- Fertilization failure in a previous IVF attempt
- Few sperm obtained by TESE/TESA
- Advanced female age (40+) with few eggs
ICSI can be combined with micro-TESE on the same day: sperm retrieved from the testis are injected into the eggs without delay, preserving the hope of biological fatherhood even in men diagnosed with azoospermia.
